Title: The Angel and the Swine
Artist: ArNoUx
Year: 2025
Medium: Mixed media on recycled Amazon cardboard (acrylic, chalk, found pigments)
Dimensions: Approx. square lid size (variable)
Style: German Expressionism
Curatorial Note:
Painted on the raw surface of an Amazon box, The Angel and the Swine unfolds a powerful duality through ArNoUx’s expressive gestures. One side reveals the solemn face of an angel, with eyes sharp as an eagle’s—watchful, discerning, caught between realms. Opposite, abstracted textures suggest the presence of a pig—a metaphor not for insult but for contrast: the mundane pleasures, the visceral, the earthly appetites. This is a painting about spiritual niches—where angels and pigs each inhabit their world, unblended and unreconciled. ArNoUx doesn’t moralize, but instead observes. The cardboard becomes a battlefield of essence, impulse, and fate.
