Curatorial Statement:
Echoes in the Grip is a textured meditation on presence and imprint. This glass soda bottle, completely enveloped in swirling layers of acrylic paint, becomes a sculptural artifact of emotional residue. Rich creams, pinks, siennas, cobalt, and muted violets bleed into one another like geological strata—each layer telling a fragment of a story untold.
One remarkable gesture within the piece is the illusion of hand imprints or fingerprints embedded in the golden beige pigment near the base—a subtle but intimate detail, speaking to the act of making, holding, and releasing. ArNoUx’s choice to work with recycled forms reflects their ongoing dialogue with transformation, healing, and the everyday object as a spiritual relic.
Echoes in the Grip belongs to the Color Testaments series, where each bottle serves as both canvas and container—housing not water or soda, but memory, gesture, and devotion.
