Curatorial Statement
Contemplative Angel was born from rupture and transformation. The original artwork broke and fell to the floor, yet its remains were not discarded. ArNoUx recovered the fragments of glass and tile and incorporated them into a new composition created on a square wooden plate covered with white plaster.
At the center appears an angelic figure with an introspective expression, surrounded by fractured surfaces, irregular reliefs, and strong contrasts of blue, orange, black, and white. The material preserves the physical memory of the accident through cracks, sharp edges, fragments, and textured accumulations that no longer represent destruction, but survival.
Through the language of figurative German Expressionism, the face rejects idealized beauty. Its silent gaze communicates reflection, sorrow, endurance, and spiritual presence. The angel seems to emerge from the ruins of the previous work, contemplating both what was lost and what could still be rebuilt.
The piece transforms breakage into testimony. Each recovered fragment becomes part of a new unity, suggesting that what is broken does not always disappear. Sometimes it changes form, acquires a new voice, and becomes something even more profound.
Central concept: Spiritual and artistic restoration through the transformation of what appeared to be lost.
