The composition presents angelic presences and the Virgin in a state of profound anticipation, embodying both sorrow and obedience, as they await the command of God that will determine the course of redemption.
In the far distance, the crosses rise on the hill, signaling the imminent crucifixion—a moment both inevitable and divinely ordained.
