Curatorial Statement:
In God Between the Visible and the Hidden, ArNoUx constructs a spiritual landscape where the human, the divine, and the unseen coexist in tension and harmony. The composition is built through instinctive gestures—predominantly applied by hand—revealing an emotional urgency that defines the German Expressionist figurative language.
On the left, a human presence bows in introspection, partially dissolved into the surrounding chromatic field, suggesting surrender, humility, or spiritual confrontation. In contrast, on the right emerges an ethereal, angelic form, rendered through layered whites and blues, embodying divine movement and intervention. Between them, a luminous vertical structure—resembling a cross or doorway—acts as a threshold between realms.
The lower section introduces organic elements: a white flower disrupted by dark gestures, and a vivid green vertical form evoking life, growth, and resurrection. These elements ground the composition while simultaneously destabilizing it, reflecting the fragile balance between purity and corruption, flesh and spirit.
Color operates as theology: the intense oranges and yellows suggest divine fire and revelation, while the blues and whites articulate transcendence and grace. The painting does not resolve into a single narrative but instead invites the viewer into a contemplative state where meaning must be felt rather than decoded.
This work stands as a meditation on presence—of God, of self, and of the invisible forces that shape both.
