Curatorial Description (English):
This one-of-a-kind sculpture by ArNoUx blends Latin American cultural symbolism with contemporary abstract expressionism. The hand-painted head—crafted with vivid splashes of violet, pink, and yellow—serves as a bold canvas that echoes the emotional complexity of identity and femininity. On top sits an exuberant floral hat, meticulously arranged with large, fabric flowers in colors ranging from orange and cream to soft blue, evoking Colombian festivity and Caribbean flair reminiscent of Carlos Vives’ aesthetic.
The addition of a long-haired wig transforms the piece into a hybrid between mannequin, mask, and memory—a theatrical artifact that embodies transformation and rootedness at once. This piece is not only a headform but a sculptural altar to joy, tradition, and modern reinvention.
