Curatorial Statement
The Table of Providence explores the spiritual relationship between nourishment, gratitude, and divine provision. A monumental, contemplative figure emerges from the darkness, bending toward a table filled with fruits of the earth: papaya, mango, onion, and other organic forms.
The still-life elements become more than food. They function as symbols of sustenance, abundance, and the quiet ways in which God provides for human life. The table appears almost three-dimensional, extending toward the viewer and creating a threshold between the physical world and the spiritual presence that dominates the composition.
Rendered through the emotional distortion and expressive brushwork of German Expressionism, the central figure carries a sense of humility, reflection, and reverence. The ambiguous brown and organic forms surrounding the table remain intentionally unresolved, suggesting earth, roots, memory, or unseen presences.
Within the darkness, the fruits retain their color and vitality. They become evidence of life, provision, and grace—a reminder that even during moments of uncertainty, the gifts placed before us can become manifestations of divine providence.
