Description
A Child Presented Before God
Un niño presentado ante Dios
Curatorial Statement — English
A Child Presented Before God depicts an intimate Christian moment in which an Afro-descendant caregiver carries an infant toward a woman of faith. Receiving the child with tenderness, the woman does not claim any spiritual power of her own; instead, she presents the infant before God and asks the Lord to bless, guide, and protect the child throughout life.
A donkey and a small dog accompany the gathering as humble witnesses. Their presence connects humanity with the animal world and recalls the simplicity, service, and humility surrounding the Christian message.
The sculpture began as a discarded porcelain object and was transformed through successive layers of cement, spray paint, plaster, paper towel, and rope. Its recycled construction becomes a testimony of renewal: what had been abandoned receives new purpose, just as every life can be restored and placed in the hands of God.
Biblical inspiration: “Let the little children come to Me.” — Matthew 19:14
