Curatorial Statement
The Angels Before the Abyss of Creation presents a visionary encounter in which the spiritual and earthly worlds become one. Three principal angels preside over the scene: two appear to kneel before an immense angelic presence, while a dark angel—or perhaps a human soul—moves toward an abyss on the right.
Below them, the living world gathers as witness. Eagles, parrots, birds, a cow and her calf emerge through the expressive layers of paint alongside two luminous human figures. From within a stone, a solitary man observes the extraordinary spectacle, representing humanity confronted by a revelation too vast to be fully understood.
The figures do not exist within a conventional narrative. They emerge, disappear, and reveal themselves again through vigorous brushwork, layered color, and shifting forms. The longer the painting is observed, the more creatures and spiritual presences seem to appear.
This work portrays all creation standing before the mystery and power of God. It speaks of divine revelation, spiritual guardianship, and the eternal choice between light and darkness.
