God Is in Control
2026
11 × 11 in (28 × 28 cm)
Mixed media on canvas: gypsum, cement, house paint, and eyeshadow pigment.
This work is a spiritual reflection inspired by the earthquake in Venezuela. Amid the ruins of a devastated city, an angel stands upon a rock, proclaiming the Word of God. Before him, a united group of worshippers responds in praise, affirming that even in the midst of destruction, hope remains.
The work expresses my conviction that God continues to work through brokenness and that true knowledge of Him comes through the Bible. It invites the viewer to seek God, understand His character, and trust His sovereignty, even when life’s events seem painful or beyond human understanding.
The rough textures of gypsum and cement evoke dust, rubble, and human fragility, while the light emerging from the figures symbolizes hope, restoration, and the enduring power of faith.
For me, this painting is a reminder that God’s purposes often extend beyond what we can immediately understand, and that His Word remains a source of truth, comfort, and hope in times of loss and uncertainty.
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
— John 8:32
