Angels in Flight
German Expressionist Painting

Curatorial Statement
In Angels in Flight, ArNoUx presents two angelic presences emerging from a turbulent and expressive field of color, texture, and motion. Their solemn faces appear as witnesses to the unseen spiritual battles surrounding the faithful. Rather than depicting angels as distant celestial beings, the artist portrays them as active guardians sent by God to watch over His children.
The composition suggests movement, vigilance, and divine intervention. The larger angel gazes directly outward, confronting the viewer with a sense of protection and authority, while the smaller figure appears attentive and watchful, embodying the constant companionship promised to believers. The energetic brushwork and dramatic contrasts of light and shadow reinforce the German Expressionist tradition, where emotion and spiritual truth take precedence over realism.
This work is rooted in the Christian conviction that those who belong to Christ are never abandoned. Covered by the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, the children of God are accompanied by heavenly messengers who protect, guide, and minister according to God’s will. The painting serves as a visual reminder that divine care continues even when it cannot be seen.
