Curatorial Statement
The Angel of Restoration portrays the sacred moment when the soul begins to heal after being wounded by the cruelty, darkness, and brokenness of the world. The angel’s face carries traces of sorrow, yet within that sadness lives a divine promise. Restoration is unfolding.
Through expressive brushwork, layered textures, and contrasting colors, the figure emerges from a landscape of emotional struggle. The surrounding fragments of color suggest the forces that seek to distort, diminish, and transform the human spirit. Yet the angel remains present, illuminated by grace and sustained by faith.
This work reminds us that God’s restoration does not always erase every tear or every memory of pain. Instead, He transforms suffering into wisdom, weakness into strength, and despair into hope. The sadness may remain for a season, but it is now held within the promise of divine renewal.
In this painting, the angel becomes a messenger of perseverance, assuring us that even when evil attempts to reshape our lives, God is continually restoring what was lost and rebuilding what was broken.
Biblical Verse
“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.”
Joel 2:25
Alternative Verse
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3

The Angel of Restoration
A German Expressionist vision of healing and renewal. The angel stands between sorrow and hope, carrying the message that God’s promises endure even through life’s deepest wounds. Though traces of sadness remain, divine restoration is already at work, transforming pain into testimony and loss into grace.
