Description
Archangel of the Living Creation
German Expressionist Recycled Nature Sculpture, 2026
Medium: Finger-painted acrylic and mixed media on recycled palm bark
Dimensions: Approx. 40 x 30 inches
Style: German Expressionism
Artist: ArNoUx
This raw and powerful sculptural work transforms a fallen palm sheath into a sacred guardian figure. Painted entirely with the artist’s fingers, the surface carries the physical force of human touch — direct, unfiltered, and alive. The natural curve of the palm bark becomes both body and sanctuary, turning recycled nature itself into a spiritual monument.
The Archangel rises from the material as a protector of both animals and humankind, standing against fear, darkness, violence, and the invisible attacks of the enemy. Within the body of the angel appear human faces and souls sheltered beneath its presence, symbolizing divine guardianship over creation itself.
The work is deeply connected to the biblical understanding that angels are sent to protect and assist humanity:
“For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
— Psalm 91:11
And also:
“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
— Hebrews 1:14
This sculpture speaks of protection not as power or domination, but as sacred vigilance. The archangel does not emerge polished or distant. It emerges wounded, raw, earthly, and watchful — closer to the suffering of living beings.
The recycled palm bark itself becomes symbolic: nature, often discarded or forgotten, is elevated into a spiritual body. The material remembers storms, heat, wind, decay, and survival, making the sculpture both earthly relic and sacred presence.
In true German Expressionist spirit, the work rejects perfection in favor of emotional truth. The rough textures, aggressive color movements, and primitive immediacy preserve the honesty of creation itself. Nothing is hidden. Nothing is artificial. The soul remains exposed
