Curatorial Statement
In Angels Accompany Us, ArNoUx constructs a dual presence that transcends the visible boundary between the human and the spiritual. Two figures emerge in a raw, almost unfinished state—one more defined, the other dissolving into shadow—suggesting the coexistence of flesh and spirit, certainty and fragility.
The expressive distortion of the faces rejects anatomical perfection in favor of emotional truth. Their eyes, wide yet inward, do not merely observe; they witness. The cross inscribed on the chest is not ornamental—it is a mark of burden, faith, and silent protection.
Surrounding them, an explosion of color—dripping reds, yellows, and blues—acts as divine interference. It disrupts the grayscale humanity, symbolizing the constant, often chaotic presence of the unseen: angels moving, intervening, accompanying.
These are not distant celestial beings. They are close. They are present. They walk beside us in our most vulnerable states—when identity fractures, when clarity fades, when the soul trembles.
