Description
Angels Entering the Earth (The Search for the Sorrowful)
Mixed media on glazed ceramic plate, approx. 7–8 in diameter
2025–2026
In this intimate circular composition, ArNoUx presents a spiritual descent: angels entering the human realm with a singular mission—to seek out sorrow. The plate, traditionally a vessel for daily nourishment, is transformed into a sacred surface, where emotional and spiritual sustenance converge.
Two figures emerge through gestural, expressionist marks—neither fully defined nor entirely dissolved—symbolizing angels who assume human likeness in order to connect more deeply with those in distress. Their presence is intentional: the male angel seeks the man, the female angel seeks the woman, establishing a direct and personal channel through which divine word and comfort can be delivered with precision and empathy.
The use of glazed ceramic as a support introduces both fragility and permanence. Its reflective surface captures light, reinforcing the idea of revelation—of something unseen becoming visible in moments of vulnerability. Layers of color and raw texture surround the figures, evoking the chaos of the human condition, while the central faces remain calm, steady, and watchful.
Rooted in a spiritual logic rather than literal depiction, this work affirms that angels are not distant—they are actively searching. They move among us, identifying grief, entering it, and responding to it in alignment with divine timing.
Here, the act of searching becomes sacred.
