Created from a discarded cardboard box rescued from the trash, this work embodies the Angel of Misery as both witness and guide. The fragile surface and humble material become essential to the meaning: misery is not only absence or loss, but a crucible. From hardship emerge some of the most lucid, resilient, and eloquent human spirits. The angel’s pale face, marked by restraint and endurance, suggests quiet dignity rather than despair. Within the German Expressionist language, the piece transforms poverty of means into spiritual presence, affirming that even misery can carry an angelic force—one that shapes, teaches, and reveals inner brilliance.
