CURATORIAL STATEMENT (English)
In this expressive figurative work, ArNoUx reveals two spectral faces emerging from a background of warm embers and shadow. Their pale hair and haunting eyes give the impression of spirits caught between worlds—half memory, half revelation.
The left figure appears grounded, almost human, staring outward with vulnerability and silent urgency. The right figure feels more ethereal, dissolving into strokes of gray and white, as though fading into the unseen. Together they form a dual presence: one anchored to the physical world, the other drifting into the spiritual realm.
The palette—rust orange, ash gray, smoky white, and muted blue—evokes the remnants of a fire, the last glow of emotions, the moment after something has burned but before the smoke disappears. The drips and raw brushwork emphasize the intensity of expression characteristic of ArNoUx’s German Expressionist style.
This painting captures a moment of transition, connection, and unspoken truth between two intertwined souls.
